Remedial Massage is a holistic natural therapy
incorporating a wide range of diagnostic techniques to treat a variety of
musculoskeletal conditions. The remedial massage practitioner has the ability
to determine the underlying cause of muscular imbalance, and apply various
techniques to treat the condition.
While remedial massage can be help in treating specific areas of muscle tension
caused by stress or injury by increasing blood flow to injured tissues, it
is also effective for relaxation and your wellbeing. The therapy has both
short and long-term effects on the body.
Deep tissue massage techniques such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy,
Cupping, Chinese Acupressure and hot stones are among the techniques used
in your customized treatment.
What is Myofacial Release? Myofacial
release is a gentle but deep technique used to free up restrictions within
the body’s connective tissue or fascia that may be contributing to pain
and stiffness in muscles and joints. Myofascial release is deeply relaxing
for both the muscular and nervous systems. Used in conjunction with M.E.T.
(Muscle Energy Technique) will lengthen shortened muscles and improve the
range of motion in joints.
What is Trigger Point Therapy? Trigger
point therapy is an effective treatment for muscular tension and pain. The
technique specifically targets a muscle pathology known as a “trigger
point”.
What is Cupping? Cupping is a traditional
therapy that is safe, comfortable and effective treatment for many health
disorders. Cupping is performed by introducing heat into a glass cup and placing
it immediately on the skin. The vacuum created produces a suction effect that
increases blood circulation to the local area, relaxes muscle tissue and releases
the factors causing pain. Cupping moves vital energy, corrects internal imbalances,
along with clearing the effects of external injury and climatic factors such
as wind and cold.
What about the marks left by the cups? There may be 'discolorations' that
only occur when the therapeutic process has drawn pathogenic factors to the
skin surface. From there these marks rapidly fade away.
What is Chinese Acupressure? Acupressure
is a blend of "acupuncture" and "pressure", which involves
placing pressure by hand, elbow on different acu points on the surface of
the body.
Why use Hot Stones?
The radiating heat from the stones increases blood flow to injured tissues,
speeding up the repair process while gently melting away layers of tension.
