Relaxation & Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is one of the most popular forms of bodywork. It is a soothing full body massage where the practitioner uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking.
The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to release toxins from the muscles and to increase the oxygen flow in the blood. Further benefits include shortening recovery time from muscular strain, increased circulation without increased heart load, stretching of ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation and improving nervous system function. Swedish Massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical by promoting relaxation. Swedish Massage should be included as a regular therapy utilized for stress management.
